Gartner has named Tellius a Visionary for a 4th consecutive year in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms report! What an honor! 🤩

In this post we’ll unpack why  we believe we received this distinction, what  this means for our customers, and where we see the future of analytics heading.

What’s the Magic Quadrant (MQ)? Who Cares?

The Magic Quadrant is the foremost enterprise software rankings report out there.

It represents the crème de la crème of software vendors based on a wide variety of functionality and market growth metrics. Hundreds of vendors apply each year but just a mere 20 secure a spot on the 2X2 matrix. That’s roughly a 2% acceptance rate—tougher than getting into Harvard!

It’s a big deal because it’s 3rd party validation by the world’s most influential industry analyst firm: Gartner. And in a sea of vendors, it’s a helpful resource to cut through the noise and shortlist vendors to really consider when it comes time to buying an analytics platform.

Net-net: Debuting then maintaining Visionary in the MQ for the last four years means we're not your average data and analytics tool (and well worth exploring further!)

Why Do We Believe We’re So Visionary?

Tellius is the enterprise AI analytics platform that empowers anyone (regardless of their technical expertise) to simplify and expedite the journey from data to insights. Our platform offers:

  • Conversational AI interface to ask questions in natural language of billions of rows data
  • Deep automated insights (e.g., root causes, key drivers, cohort comparisons, etc.)
  • Agentic automations to expedite multistep analysis and streamline workflows

But what sets Tellius apart in a noisy marketplace where everyone touts their GenAI and agentic capabilities?

We believe our secret sauce is our comprehensive GenAI + agentic analytics stack which delivers rapid, relevant, and contextualized analytics at a scale critical for enterprises, yet unmatched in the market.

Since our founding in 2017 with an AI-first approach, we've crafted layers to unlock conversational analytics that cater to both business users and technical analysts.

In other words, we’ve been leveraging AI long before it was trendy. While others hop on the GenAI bandwagon and bolt on GenAI to their existing systems—we’ve had AI at our core since inception to provide a seamless, intuitive, and powerful user experience. It’s the foundation upon which our platform has been built. We’ve meticulously tested where GenAI truly shines in analytics, striking the perfect balance between GenAI and human intelligence.

Our GenAI analytics stack consists of five layers with eight key functions:

  1. Conversational AI Layer
  2. AI Agents and Agentic Flows
  3. Deterministic Analytics Engine Layer
  4. Semantic Layer
  5. Compute Layer
  6. Data Layer
  7. Prompt Engineering & Learnings
  8. Security & Governance

1. Conversational AI Layer

We offer a ChatGPT-like conversational interface and multi-turn ad hoc analysis approach to asking and answering ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’-type questions. Users can ask complex, multipart questions full of jargon and nuance in plain language and quickly get answers. For example, you could ask: “Which are the top 3 regions that have the highest subscription rates, what is their average order value (AOV), and how does this compare to the national average by product line?”

The layer also includes an advanced analytics interface for predictive analytics (AutoML), allowing users to use machine learning models to predict future trends. Additionally, we have built-in, seasonality-adjusted ML-based anomaly detection, ensuring that irregularities in data are identified accurately without false positives.

2. AI Agents and Agentic Flows

Tellius offers a simple way to leverage the power of AI Agents and pre-built agentic flows in natural language, within the conversational layer. Asking for a sales deep-dive in the conversational chat layer, for example, will invoke a crew of agents to intelligently plan and execute the multi-step processes of identifying key drivers of sales trends. Our platform comes with dozens of pre-built, industry and domain-specific flows to save users tons of time. Meanwhile, creating these agentic flows is easy and no-free in the Composer section.

3. Deterministic Analytics Engine Layer

Underneath the conversational AI layer is a deterministic analytics engine that does the intent classification, schema retrieval, NER extraction, and analytical intent identification. The result is a battle-tested, hallucination-free approach to turning complex natural language queries into SQL, so 1+1 always equals 2 because accuracy is critical to trust in enterprise analytics.

4. Semantic Layer

This layer understands the relationships between different data points while incorporating business logic to ensure that insights are not only data-driven but also contextually relevant to specific business scenarios.

5. Compute Layer

Our dual-engine compute layer intelligently directs queries and machine-learning tasks to the appropriate live or in-memory processing engines. This ensures quick handling of massive data jobs, delivering fast and precise insights to users.

6. Data Layer

We seamlessly integrate with leading cloud and on-premises data lakes and databases. Additionally, we offer a lightweight last-mile data preparation tool that rapidly cleanses, transforms, and prepares data for analysis.

7. Prompt Engineering & Learnings

We’ve developed comprehensive prompts to generate contextually relevant insights. Additionally, we’ve incorporated a continuous learning loop from our vector database, allowing the system to refine and improve output based on user interactions.

8. Security & Governance

This layer provides extensive monitoring and auditing mechanisms, ensuring compliance and transparency, along with enterprise-grade security measures to protect the integrity of your data. We've thoughtfully tested LLMs and leverage the highest-performing ones for analytical workflows while allowing enterprises to bring their own keys.

Net-net: We believe this distinction is a result of our competitive generative AI analytics vision manifest in Kaiya

In a GenAI-first world, customers need more than the outdated canned reports and static visualizations they’ve seen for years.

They operate in more dynamic business environments and have complex questions, meaning they need not just answers, but deep, actionable insights and the ability to turn these insights into action via AI agents—and they need them fast to keep up with the accelerating pace of business today.

But when you look at the journey from data to decisions, it’s often complex and fragmented. Each step—from data transformation to analysis, insights, and visualization—is performed in silos with tools that aren’t built for ad hoc exploration of large data volumes, which leads to friction, delayed insights, and suboptimal decisions.

Tellius’ robust enterprise GenAI platform transforms how customers interact with data. Instead of wading through dozens of static dashboards and canned reports and manually piecing answers together, we offer a GPT-like interaction with your data. Behind the scenes, our intelligent system ensures that these interactions are grounded in reality, providing reliable insights. This means you can trust the information you’re receiving without the risk of hallucinations.

A future brimming with GenAI and agentic possibilities

We envision a future of invisible analytics—i.e., where the various forms of analytics such as descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive, and proactive—blend so seamlessly into the background and are imbued so thoroughly into answers that the operating mentality is “of course we’ve run the numbers on this”, not “did we analyze this?”. In this future, AI will drive interactions with data that are oriented toward decisions, actions, and outcomes. We also look forward to a future where AI reduces mundane tasks, leaving humans to focus on what truly matters—driving impactful business outcomes.

The future is bright, and this is just the beginning of a new era. With Tellius, you’re not just keeping up with the times; you’re ahead of the curve. Request a personalized demo of our platform today! ✨
